Coupling: Series Three DVD interview

 

On the UK S3 and US S1 dvds there are some interviews with the cast and creators of Coupling. Ben's comments are listed below.

 

The character

 

"He's fantastic, Patrick. He's a kind of male bimbo - a kind of himbo. He has no idea of how single minded he is. He kind of goes through life bouncing off various women - sometimes quite literally - with one pursuit which is to have as much fantastic sex as he can, drive the fastest cars and wear the sharpest clothes. And that's all he does. That's his reason for living, which I think kind of counts for 80% of the male population, so he's great fun to play. He kind of says all those things you find yourself as a man sometimes thinking but you don't quite admit to thinking them."

 

Would I hang out with me?

 

"I would probably spend 5 minutes with Patrick and then just think what an arse!"

 

The personal ad

 

"Great sense of humour, fun to be with, very attractive, modest, extremely sexy, seeks anybody female who's goodlooking."

 

What's Coupling about?

 

"There's this weird relationship between the three of them. They meet up in the bar and just talk about what happens in the day and what theyve done and it ends up becoming this insane conversation abut breasts, or, ok breasts basically, that's what it is really!"

 

Life before Coupling

 

"Before Coupling I was a shell of a man. I had no life. No friends, nobody. No, I was doing a lot of theatre, I didn't really do any TV till the late 90's and Coupling started in the spring of 2000."
